You can now download AirPods Pro 2 firmware 7B19 with Hearing Aid features. Here are the details.
It looks like Apple has flipped the switch on the new AirPods Pro 2 firmware which brings the much anticipated Hearing Aid features to those with second-gen AirPods Pro.
This release comes ahead of iOS 18.1 public launch which is scheduled for coming Monday, October 28. This is the same day Apple will also start announcing its new Macs, which is rumored to include M4-based MacBook Pro models, iMac, and even completely redesigned Mac mini.
Apple’s release notes for the new AirPods Pro 2 firmware is as follows:
Hearing Test feature provides scientifically-validated hearing test results from the comfort of home (intended for users 18 years or older)
Hearing Aid feature provides personalized, clinical-grade assistance that is automatically applied to sounds in your environment as well as music, videos, and calls (intended for users 18 years or older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss)
Hearing Protection feature helps users minimize exposure to loud environmental noise across listening modes (available in the United States and Canada)
To check the firmware version of your AirPods Pro 2, head to the Settings app on your iPhone, navigate to the AirPods Pro settings, and scroll down to the “Version” section. The previous firmware version was 7A305.
Make sure your AirPods Pro 2 are on charge and are connected to your iPhone. They will update to new firmware automatically, usually overnight.
