Apple isn’t going to announce updated AirPods Max 2 until the second half of 2024 at the very earliest, according to a new report.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple won’t refresh its AirPods Max headphones until later in 2024 and could even wait until the first half of 2025 in news that will be disappointing for people looking to upgrade their existing headphones.
In a series of tweets Ming-Chi Kuo says that he thinks that Apple’s “next important acoustic product refresh time” will be the second half of 2024 or later. Kuo says that the products in question include the second-generation HomePod mini, the AirPods Max 2, and a cheaper version of the AirPods.
Apple had already been said to have plans to launch a cheaper version of its AirPods earbuds, with a $99 price point suggested.
As for the AirPods Max headphones, they haven’t changed since they were first introduced in December 2020 and have maintained their $549 asking price throughout. If Apple doe update the headphones we can surely expect a move to USB-C among other things. The USB-C port will be added to the iPhone 15 series later this year, we expect, thanks to EU regulations that come into force in 2024.
An updated HomePod mini isn’t something that many people have been asking about of late, especially now the new HomePod is available and has no new features that place it above its smaller cousin.
