The legendary Ryan Petrich has announced iOS 12-compatible updated versions of Activator, Flipswitch, and RocketBootstrap. The updates and release come hot on the heels of unc0ver v3.0.0 beta 41, which offers support for pre-A12 devices on iOS 12-12.1.2.
In all industries and in all walks of life, some people come and go. Some people tend to stay in one particular place for a pre-defined period of time and then move on. Others tend to wait until an industry or a community has served its purpose and move on to what they perceive to be bigger and better things.
We have no doubt that Ryan Petrich plies his trade excellently in one capacity or other in his professional life but it’s also a delight to see that he continues to support the jailbreak-loving public by updating his iconic packages. As far back as we can remember, there has been Ryan Petrich. And long may that continue.
Now, onto the actual announcement. Activator is one of the most widely respected, adopted, used, and integrated packages in the world of jailbreaking, and now, thanks to this release, we have a version of the package which offers compatibility with iOS 12.x.x via the latest unc0ver release. This not only means that device owners can successfully install the package but also means that any third-party tweak developer integrating with Activator can now get their package(s) back on track by bringing iOS 12 compatibility.
The developer has also announced updated versions of other popular packages and libraries, namely Flipswitch and RocketBootstrap, thanks to the help of @sbinger for the latter. For those that may not know, Flipswitch is a tweak that introduces a brand new centralized toggle system into the jailbroken iOS ecosystem and RocketBootstrap is a “library that solves a denied lookup error of IPC services.” Not the most exciting of packages for the end-user but one that is a dependency for a lot of other packages.
Once again, it’s great to see Petrich is still committed to the cause of jailbreaking and is still ensuring that his most popular, vital, and widely used packages are updated. It remains to be seen if any new offerings will come out from Ryan Petrich but, for now, at least, these releases are more than enough.
