The high-end superphone of today is the mid-end, economical smartphone of tomorrow. HTC’s Desire X, which was announced back in June, 2012, comes with a dual-core chip, a 4-inch 480 x 800 display, 768MB of RAM, 5-megapixel sensor on the back and, well, no optics on the front. It is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Now, if you happen to own this smartphone and wish to get more of its outdated specifications, you’ll be interested in unlocking its bootloader, gaining root access, using a custom recovery etc. We’ve come across a new tool that lets you do all that under one window. Check it out after the jump!
Until now, Desire X owners had to surf through unfriendly forums and, God forbid, beyond the first page of Google search results to learn how to perform these actions. Not anymore!
Developed by Hasoon2000 and released on XDA-Developers, the HTC Desire X All In One Toolkit assists you through the bootloader unlocking process on HTCDev.com, lets you flash ClockworkMod Recovery or any other custom recovery, flash custom kernels and, most importantly, permanently gain root access.
Before you start using it, you are required to install HTC drivers and get the Token ID for your device so its bootloader can be unlocked.
Once you’ve met these pre-requisites, you can connect your HTC Desire X to your PC via USB cable, launch the toolkit, follow on-screen instructions to get your geek on.
Built using AutoIT, Desire X All in One Toolkit only works on Windows. There are no plans of porting it to OS X or Linux.
If you’re wondering why you should root your Android smartphone, you should know that it lets you use much more powerful apps, perform more thorough backups through ClockworkMod Recovery, and flash customized versions of Android. It’s not risk-free, no doubt about that, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
And with all-in-one toolkits like the one discussed in this post, it’s easy as pie to supercharge your phone.
Please visit the official thread over on XDA-Developers for the download links and additional instructions for using the tool straight from the developer.
