Social networking apps are always popular on any mobile platform, and the iOS App Store certainly has a fairly sizeable amount of them to choose from. If you prefer to shy away from the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Path and prefer something a little more personal and unique then the Tracks app for iPhone and iPod touch could definitely be something worth exploring.
The Tracks app offers a way of interacting with and tracking experiences with friends, family members and work colleagues through an elegant and well constructed user-interface that makes the most of the media that it uploads and displays. One of the more powerful and fascinating features of Tracks is the ability to create and store photograph and video based albums that can continuously be added to and shared with connections.
As soon as you start using Tracks by logging in with Facebook, or creating an independent account; it becomes obvious that a lot of thought has been placed into the development of the app. Tracks are immediately created based on interactions and relationships without any further effort from the user. The visual activity indicator feed also allows whoever is using the app to quickly explore all daily activity without the need to hunt around through different screens to extract the desired information.
Personal tracks can be shared with friends or made to be accessed through invitations, as well as coming with eleven different live photograph and video filters that can be applied to all media used within the app. Uploading images is a breeze with multi-image selection tools from the device’s camera as well as a lightning fast camera mechanism that takes multiple photos in an instant. The obligatory additional social sharing is also present in the app with created tracks being able to be shared with Facebook and Twitter.
The app is presented well and features a very elegant and attractive user-interface, with the only down side being that it can actually take a while to understand what is going on and what the main purpose of the app is, as the idea of creating tracks is an entirely unique concept to this app.
