While analyzing their website logs, BGR has found out something very interesting, related to the upcoming iPhone OS firmware release. Their server logs have clearly shown existence of both iPhone 3.1.3, and the major release – the iPhone 4.0 firmware. While we don’t know what new features the new firmware will offer, one thing is for sure that iPhone 3.1.3 firmware is only going to be a minor release for bug fixes and patches. iPhone 4.0 seems to be the major release version that is most probably going to hit something in summer of 2010 with the next-gen iPhone model.
Expect iPhone 3.1.3 firmware version to drop any time via iTunes. If you are using a jailbroken or an unlocked iPhone with firmware 3.1.2, then do not update to OS 3.1.3 immediately or you may loose the capability to jailbreak or unlock your device in the future. You have been warned!
UPDATE 1: iPhone 3.1.3 is now available for iPhone 3GS, 3G, 2G and iPod touch. You can download it from here.
