Whenever people talk about console-based video gaming these days, it seems to be the Call Of Duty franchise that gets the most attention. Granted, the COD games grow in popularity with every release, and the Modern Warfare series has certainly become one of the most popular series of games around the globe, but that doesn’t stop die hard fans from craving some more game-time with one of video games’ most iconic heroes – The Master Chief.
The Halo series of games have achieved quite staggering success, with the franchise becoming a multi-billion dollar series since its first launch in 2001, and while fans of Halo did get satisfaction out of playing the Halo: Reach prequel, it has done nothing to curb their enthusiasm for a whole new title to be released.
Fans have had been waiting patiently since Microsoft showed off a Halo 4 trailer at the E3 conference in 2011, but there has been little to no information released about the next installment of the game since then. We do know that Halo 4 will be the first release of three new Halo games, which has been given the dramatic title of the ‘Halo Reclaimer Trilogy’ and it has been said that the trailer which was displayed by Microsoft Studios was actually custom-made for the event and doesn’t actually represent gameplay using the new Halo 4 engine.
For those have been anxiously waiting since July last year for more information, a few in-game screenshots have leaked today which provides a little visual insight into the new environment that the Master Chief will find himself in. The guys over at Gamerlive.tv managed to source the in-game screenshots of Halo 4, which were originally made by a member of the 343 Industries development team, the company that took over responsibility for the Halo franchise from Bungie.
As you might imagine, Microsoft seem to have huge plans for the Halo franchise going forward. With the amount of hardcore interest in the development of Halo, and the financial might that the games provide; it would seem a no-brainer for Microsoft to focus heavily on the development of the game. Reports over at Fusible are claiming that Microsoft is also in the process of acquiring Halo-related domain names, with the successful ownership of Halo5.com and Halo9.com and in the process of attempting to get the missing domains. The fact that the company already has Halo10.com provides an exciting insight into the future of the franchise means that Master Chief fans should be suitably catered for in the coming years.
