When Apple announces the iPhone 16 lineup later this year it appears that the iPhone 16 Plus will be the last of its kind.
If accurate, the iPhone 16 Plus will be the end of the Plus line of devices after just three years of launches.
Apple ditched the mini after the iPhone 13 mini and chose to switch to the iPhone 14 Plus. We’ve since had the iPhone 15 Plus followed by the upcoming iPhone 16 Plus. but a new report by The Information suggests that we won’t see any iPhone 17 Plus in 2025.
That doesn’t mean that we will see Apple drop the number of models available next year, though. According to The Information Apple will ditch the iPhone 17 Plus in favor of a new device that will be thinner than the previous models.
The report says it will be “significantly thinner” than the other iPhones and as a result it will be more expensive than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The Information reports that the Plus line of iPhones has reportedly not sold as well as expected, which is the same reason that Apple ultimately removed the mini from the lineup.
However, it isn’t yet clear how many people are likely to pay a premium for a new iPhone that is thinner and has a smaller display than the iPhone 17 Pro Max — a previous report by analyst Jeff Pu suggested Apple was going to give the so-called iPhone 17 Slim a 6.7-inch display.
