The iPad mini 7 Might Fix The iPad mini 6’s Jelly Scrolling Issue

Apple is expected to release an updated iPad mini within the next few months and a new report claims hat it will fix one of the biggest issues with the current model.

That issue is of course the jelly scrolling situation that sees one half of the display seemingly scroll at a slightly different rate to the other.

The issue isn’t a fault as such, but rather a byproduct of the LCD display Apple used and the way that it is configured. However, a MacRumors report based on a leak via Weibo suggests that Apple is keen to fix that by making a change to the way the LCD display is set up when installed in the upcoming iPad mini 7.

Users have generally only complained about jelly scrolling when the ‌iPad mini‌ is in portrait orientation. The issue is not reproducible in landscape orientation when scrolling, indicating this is a vertical refresh issue. According to the latest rumor, Apple plans to rotate the screen assembly to reduce the jelly scrolling effect in portrait orientation. Whether it will now become more prominent when the ‌iPad mini‌ is in landscape orientation is yet to be seen.

The iPad mini 7 is also expected to get some other minor improvements including a new, faster chip.

That could mean an upgrade to the A16 Bionic used in the iPhone 15, while there is also the suggestion that the FaceTime camera will also be upgraded over the model used in the current iPad mini 6.
