Apple Vision Pro Will Support AirPlay Screen Mirroring And More

Apple’s Vision Pro headset was announced back in June and it won’t go up for sale until early 2024, but the company continues to release new beta versions of its visionOS software. Now, new details of the headset’s features are starting to appear as more people test that software.

The recently released visionOS 1.0 beta 4 has confirmed that there are some new features we weren’t previously aware of.

One of those is the ability to select another device and then mirror the Vision Pro’s display onto that device via AirPlay or FaceTime, MacRumors reports.

This suggests that users will be able to mirror their Vision Pro display to an external monitor or TV, or share their view with others through ‌AirPlay‌ or ‌FaceTime‌. Other headsets like Meta Quest have similar features which can help to reduce the feeling of isolation of the headset user from others.

The same report also notes that the headset will have an option to reset EyeSight data. EyeSight is the feature that simulates eyes on the headset’s external display, with a new option telling people that it can be reset if required.

You can reset EyeSight by going to Settings > People Awareness and tapping Reset Personalized EyeSight. This will remove personalized eye details from EyeSight, like your eye shape and measurements, but EyeSight will still use your skin tone where available. After you have reset EyeSight, you can restore it by recapturing your Persona.

Other tidbits include four new alerts that warn people that they can’t call people while in Travel Mode as well as others that warn about a user’s surroundings being too dark for using the Persona feature.

Apple hasn’t confirmed exactly when the new headset will go on sale beyond a vague early 2024 timeframe.
