tvOS 17 Find Apple TV Siri Remote feature now works with the updated firmware. Here’s what you need to know about this.
Now that Apple has released tvOS 17 to the masses it’s also enabled a cool new feature that makes it possible to locate a lost Siri Remote using an iPhone running iOS 17.
The feature will require that the iPhone have iOS 17 installed, the Apple TV be from 2021 at the oldest and have tvOS 17 installed, and the Siri Remote be running the latest firmware for it to work.
If all of those things are squared away a new option to find the Siri Remote will appear in the iPhone’s Apple TV remote control tool in Control Center.
Here’s how to make sure that your Siri Remote is updated.
Step 1: Install tvOS 17 on your Apple TV from 2021 or 2022.
Step 2: Charge the Siri Remote to at least 50%.
Step 3: Place the Siri Remote on the top of your Apple TV and wait for the update to happen.
That’s all there is to it. There is no way to manually force the update to take place but it does happen automatically. It’s just a case of waiting for it to happen.
This isn’t the only new feature offered by tvOS 17 of course. The update also allows the Apple TV to be used to make FaceTime calls when connected to an iPhone via Continuity Camera. There are also changes to Control Center and tweaks to the overall interface, too.
