A new update to the Tesla app for iPhone has enabled support for the Shortcuts app. The move means that iPhone owners can now take advantage of advanced automation options that will tie into their Tesla EV for the first time.
As Teslarati notes, there are plenty of options available for Tesla owners including location-based automation.
The addition of Shortcuts for Tesla drivers creates the possibility of an even more convenient ownership experience. Automated features can help lock your car when you are not within range as you walk into the grocery store.
Tasks that can be handled via Shortcuts now includes the ability to lock and unlock the vehicle, start or stop preconditioning, interact with the charging port, and more. There are even options for enabling and disabling Sentry Mode as well.
Those who want to take advantage of these features will need to get their hands on the updated Tesla app and be running an iPhone that has iOS 12 or newer installed. The new Tesla app update is a free one of course, and it’s well worth taking a look at if you’re at all interested in making use of these new automation features.
The new Tesla app changes were first noticed by Tesla App Updates which also notes that there have been some image asset changes and other improvements.
