Tesla Updates Standard Free Model 3 And Model Y Color From White To Midnight Silver

In an interesting turn of events, Tesla, the industry-leading electric car manufacturer, has decided to revamp the standard colors for two of its most popular models – the Model 3 and Model Y.

The change sees the default color shifting from its existing white to ‘Midnight Silver’.

This isn’t the first time Tesla has made such a change. The automaker originally had black as the standard color for its vehicles. However, in 2019, Tesla stirred things up by changing the base color to white. This move, at the time, changed the fact that Tesla was pumping out a ton of standard black vehicles and started littering the roads with white electric cars.

The new choice of standard color, Midnight Silver, elevates the aesthetic appeal of the Model 3 and Model Y, adding a touch of sophistication and elegance to the vehicle’s design. This metallic shade perfectly complements the sleek design language of the cars, making them even more visually appealing on the road. And, of course, it’s a lot cheaper for prospective Tesla owners as the base color is included in the on-the-road price.

Previously, opting for colors other than the standard entailed an additional charge. With this update, the situation remains the same. Customers who wish to switch from the now-standard Midnight Silver to other available colors will face an additional charge starting at $1,000. The exact pricing, though, may vary depending on the specific color chosen and the type of paint used to achieve the advertised color.

It’s currently unknown how customers will react to the change of the standard Model 3 and Model Y color but it does mean that we will start seeing more Midnight Silver cars hitting the road in due course.

This change might also impact the decision-making process of potential customers, especially those who were comfortable with the earlier standard colors. It adds a new factor to consider in the overall cost of owning a Tesla.

Whether this move proves to be a stroke of genius or a controversial choice, only time will tell. For now, the new Midnight Silver standard color promises to add an extra touch of elegance to Tesla’s high-performing electric vehicles.
