Tesla continues to make its electric vehicles even cheaper with the company slashing prices on the Model 3 and Model Y ranges. Now, drivers can get into a Tesla for less than $40,00 before any incentives kick in.
This move is just the latest in a line of Tesla price drops after those prices steadily increased in the last couple of years.
Electrek notes that the Model 3 is now available for less than $40,000 with Tesla seemingly keen to counter the fact that the federal tax credit has been reduced $7,500 to $3,750.
The Model Y has also seen some price drops, this time across the entire lineup.
- Model Y AWD: went from $49,990 to $46,990
- Model Y Long Range: went from $52,990 to $49,990
- Model Y Performance: went from $56,990 to $53,990
The Model Y does still qualify for full tax incentives as well, meaning that buying the car in some states could mean that a brand-new Model 3 will cost around $35,000. that’s an impressive price for a lot of EV, although the price does of course start to creep up when you choose the Long Range or Performance models.
Tesla had previously increased its prices, citing global supply chain issues and the increasing cost of building cars as the reason. These changes would suggest that things are improving, with Tesla also likely benefiting from reduced costs thanks to a larger scale of production in recent months.
