Apple opened its first Indian retail store earlier this week with CEO Tim Cook in attendance to great shoppers. The Apple BKC store launch was a big one, with the flagship Apple Store capturing plenty of attention.
It also caught the eye of a local UX designer who took their vintage Macintosh along to show Cook who, according to photos and video, loved every minute of it.
The CEO looked surprised to see the Macintosh when it appeared in front of them, with designer Sajid telling Moneycontrol that he was happy and proud that Apple finally opened a store in his country.
“It is a big moment for Apple users in India and we can look forward to coming to this store and exploring all the latest Apple products,” he said.
The machine in question was a vintage Macintosh SE from around 1987 and Sajid even turned up wearing a black turtleneck sweater, the likes of which Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs was famous for wearing.

Following the store’s opening Cook also took in local sites and is expected to also make his presence known at the opening of Apple Saket, another store opening in India on April 20. It’s the first Apple Store to open in the country’s capital and is sure to be just as impressive as the one in Mumbai.
