Former Apple chief designer Jony Ive has created the latest red nose as part of the Red Nose Day Comic Relief charity telethon that runs every year in the UK.
The red nose created by Ive is made up of 95% plant-based materials and has a folding design that’s all paper. The whole thing eventually folds flat when not being used and can be kept in a carry case to keep it in one piece.
The design was part of a deal with LoveFrom, the design outfit that Ive co-founded when he left Apple back in 2019.
“We’ve grown up with Comic Relief and are proud to support their remarkable work,” said Ive.
“This new and seemingly simple Red Nose has been a fabulously complex little object to design and make and has involved our entire team. We hope it brings a little moment of joy to everyone who wears one.”
Some have already suggested that this is the biggest change to the iconic red nose since it was first introduced in 1988 as part of the telethon that helps raise money for those who need it.
Last year Red Nose Day raised £42 million and organizers will surely hope that the figure can be beaten this time around.
