Apple has taken the unusual step of releasing a statement to warn customers that they should expect to struggle to buy iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max devices for a while.
The issue, it says, is caused by a COVID-19 lockdown at its primary manufacturing plant for those two models.
Apple announced that the lockdown is causing the facility to run “at significantly reduced capacity” but that it is working closely with its supplier Foxconn to try and get things back up to speed “while ensuring the health and safety of every worker.”
As a result of the impact, and fewer new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models being built, Apple says that shipments will be harder to come by.
We continue to see strong demand for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. However, we now expect lower iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments than we previously anticipated and customers will experience longer wait times to receive their new products.
Apple announced the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in September, with both devices having been on sale since September 16.
The Pro models have been difficult to find in stock around the world already, but this latest development will make them both even more difficult to find, especially in popular configurations.
