Leaker Claims All iPhone 12 Models 5G Compatible, iPad Air With In-Display Touch ID Coming, ARM MacBooks On Way, More

A Twitter account that does have a history of generally getting things right has shared a few more details about Apple’s product roadmap. The Twitter account L0vetodream has shared a few tweets over the last few weeks with some of them of particular interest.

The first is the claim that an iPad Air is coming that not only makes use of a mini-LED display for the first time but will also have Touch ID beneath the screen.

That would allow for the lack of a Home button without needing to add Face ID – something that would presumably be costly on a modestly priced tablet.

The same Twitter user also reports that Apple is working on its own game controller, while talk of a new MacBook running on ARM processors is again brought up.

This year is potentially the year we see Apple switch from Intel to ARM for its Mac chips, although it would likely take a year or more to complete. Any move towards ARM will require Apple to tell developers during WWDC in June. Macs wouldn’t be available until they’ve had time to react.

Other claims include the one that all of Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup will support 5G as well as news that the A14 chip has been delayed. Whether that leads to a delay in iPhone 12 launch remains to be seen.
