iH8sn0w has updated iFaith to version 1.4 which brings support for saving SHSH blobs of iOS 5.0.x firmware as long as you are currently running that firmware on your iOS device, even if Apple is not signing it.
As expected, A5 devices (iPhone 4S and iPad 2) are not supported yet. You can save SHSH blobs using iFaith for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2 only.
Full change log of iFaith v1.4 is as follows:
iFaith v1.4 Release notes:
– Now dumps iOS 4.4.x (Apple TV 2)/5.0.x apticket + SHSH blobs!
– Dumping is MUCH faster.
– Full Windows XP support.
– Major code improvements.
– Bug fixes.— DOES NOT SUPPORT A5 DEVICES YET!
We have already gone in great length previously to explain what is iFaith and how exactly it works, along with instructions on how to use it to save SHSH blobs for old iOS firmware versions. You can read it all here.
One thing to note is that while you can save iOS 5.0 SHSH blobs now (only if you are currently running it on your iOS device), you wont be able to downgrade to the stock version (of iOS 5.0) yet once you have updated to iOS 5.0.1 or later. This is because of certain new checks used by Apple starting from iOS 5.0 to ensure people stick to the latest version of iOS, explanation of which can be found here.
You can however still go back to custom iOS 5.0 IPSW which is created using iFaith 1.4 with the SHSH blobs incorporated for the firmware you are downgrading to, as explained by iH8sn0w in the video below:
