Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo may now have a new place of work in TF international Securities, but that has not stopped the prolific sharer of often accurate opinion from releasing a new research note that covers a raft of potential tidbits of information pertaining to what Apple will release over the coming months.
The full research note covers everything from iPhones to Apple Watches and everything between and there are some points that are more interesting than others.
One of those is the suggestion that 2019’s new iPhones will feature “marked innovations” but thanks to that, it is likely that Apple will not have the final design and features set in concrete until very later into 2018. Moving a little closer to more imminent releases, though, Kuo says that the expectation is that a new 6.1-inch iPhone will be available in stores this September despite entering production later than the other two iPhones to be announced this year in the iPhone X Plus and the second generation iPhone X.
Dipping a toe into politics slightly, Kuo also had thoughts on how the potential trade war between the United States and China may impact Apple, suggesting that impact will be minimal.
We believe it is unlikely that Apple will be directly impacted by the trade war because it plays an important role in both China and US economy. It is worth monitoring whether Chinese consumers will reject buying Apple’s products due to anti-American sentiment.
Moving onto the iPad, Kuo also expects the remainder of 2018 to bring new iPads that will be equipped with Face ID technology while new low-cost MacBook Air and larger-screened Apple Watches are also thought to be on the agenda for release in the next six months.
Finally, Kuo believes that despite concerns to the contrary, Apple remains the place to go for innovation.
“We believe that Apple is still the leading company in the consumer electronics sector and has surpassed its competitors by a wide margin in terms of innovative user experience and ecosystem development. The leading advantages will benefit it when innovating with new applications,” such as the augmented reality features the company continues to focus on.
With all this in mind, it now looks like there is still plenty to come from Apple over the next few months and it could yet turn out to be one of the company’s most prolific periods yet.
