Is WhatsApp crashing for you on iOS 11 iPhone due to Indian Telugu language character bug? Here’s how you can fix it.
There has been a lot of talks recently about the rather annoying text crashing issue in iOS. You know, the one where the device crashes and hangs when a specific Indian Telugu character is received?
Until Apple issues its expected iOS 11.2.6 update to fix the problem with a public release, there are a couple of ways that users can attempt to resolve the rather annoying crashing issue in WhatsApp caused by the Telugu character. The first is of course something we have already told you about. Apple is currently dishing out iOS 11.3 in a pre-release state, which allows developers and registered public testers to put the platform through its paces and assists Apple in getting it ready for a public release.
Tests have already shown that iOS 11.3 has patched the Telugu crashing issue, which means that you can register yourself as a public tester in order to get the iOS 11.3 beta installed to eradicate the problem. Of course, this means running pre-release software, which isn’t the ideal route for a lot of device owners.
Another method that is confirmed to be working and much easier to fix on iOS 11.2.5 is this: Facebook-owned WhatsApp has recently introduced the ability for users to delete messages from the conversation. This means that it is now possible for you to simply ask the sender of the message with the Telugu character in to delete the offending message from the conversation. They can do this by pressing and holding on the speech bubble, tapping the right-facing arrow for more options, and then selecting Delete. Once the action sheet appears, tap “Delete for Everyone.”
From the two options above, it is immediately evident that the second option of asking the sender to delete the message is the easiest and quickest. However, as per the WhatsApp, this will need to be done super quick as the sender only has the ability to delete messages for everyone for up to seven minutes after it was sent. After that period of time that individual will only be able to delete the message from his/her own view. It also requires every person in the chat to be on the latest version of WhatsApp.
Good luck and keep an eye out for Apple’s release of iOS 11.2.6 which will patch this issue once and for all.
