watchOS 4 download for Apple Watch is now available in final version form. Here’s how you can install it on your Apple Watch right now, and the right way.
Apple initially teased Apple Watch owners with the introduction of watchOS 4 during this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) back in June of the year. That reveal involved a walkthrough of some of the more prominent features and improvements making it into watchOS 4, as well as some live demonstrations of those features in action. After months of continuous testing and bug fixing, which has involved the release of multiple pre-release seeds, Apple has finally made watchOS 4 available to the public with immediate availability.
Apple Watch has been one of Apple’s platforms to watch over the last 18 months. We’ve not only been part of an Apple Watch Series 2 launch, but we’ve seen watchOS 3 come and be welcomed into the ecosystem. We now have the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE support, as well as the now-available watchOS 4 firmware which is essentially the underlying “glue” which ties all of these devices and features together. And from a feature perspective, watchOS 4 is actually an impressive update from Apple.
Installation of watchOS 4 will bring with it a new array of Toy Story-themed watch faces with a variety of entertaining animations. Siri will also make an appearance with its own watch face, introducing some machine learning and additional intelligence in the fray. Apple has also taken the opportunity to bring its world-class designers into the picture by introducing a brand new user-interface for the Workout and Music apps. There’s also the introduction of new Apple News and Now Playing Complications, and even the ability to invoke peer-to-peer payments with Apple Pay, among other things.
All-in-all, a very worthwhile and impressive update polished off with refinements such as additional background modes for developers to tap into, Bluetooth support for additional accessories, and rich graphics support for media within third-party apps. If all of that sounds good, and exactly what you want on your Apple Watch, then you are going to want to get up and running with watchOS 4 as quick as possible.
