With bright red iPhones and purple Galaxy S devices, both Apple and Samsung have finally begun to understand that customers want their smartphones to represent them in some way, and bold and bright colors or subdued and classy dark colors are great ways to do that, so offering them as options when selling devices makes plenty of sense. We applaud technology companies that are beginning to make use of color, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.
That is what the folks at Curved think as well, because they have something pretty impressive to show us.
If you have been anywhere near the Internet over the past few weeks, then you will be acutely aware that Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 8 next month, and that it is potentially going to make quite the splash. We can expect colors to closely mimic those that are already available for the iPhone 7, but wouldn’t it be great if Apple stepped a little outside the box this time around? How about a transparent iPhone, for example?
Sounds good? Wait until you see it!
And how this awakens feelings of nostalgia: “transparent tech” used to be the new hot thing in the 90s, such as the 1995 Gameboy, the 1997 Tamagotchi or the 1988 iMac. That’s right: Apple, too, rode the transparency trend and demonstrated that desktop computers don’t have to look boring. So, an adaption of this idea for smartphones would make for a welcome change, wouldn’t it? Also, for Apple fans it’s the perfect throwback to the era that established the company’s success.
With a transparent back panel, the concept video created by Curved looks absolutely stunning, and if this thing was ever made, then I know without any doubt that I would buy one. While it is very, very unlikely that Apple would do something like this, we can only dream of one day owning a transparent iPhone.
Be sure to check the YouTube video out, and prepare to lust after a phone that will most likely never be made.
