Here’s a cool trick that will let you use your Apple AirPods case as a makeshift stand for your iPhone. Here are the details.
Apple’s AirPods are a wonderful example of what the company can do when it is on its ‘A’ game. Bluetooth earphones have historically been maddening messes, and even if you do get them to pair first time, there is every chance that they will disconnect at seemingly random intervals. AirPods fix all that thanks to the inclusion of the custom Apple W1 chip, and the whole thing is marvel.
Unfortunately, getting your hands on a set of AirPods wasn’t easy after their launch and even today, it may not be as easy as you had hoped. If you do pick AirPods up, then you are in for a treat, because not only are they excellent wireless earphones but they also come with a hidden feature – the case they are stored in can be used as an iPhone stand.
That case not only acts as somewhere to stow the AirPods when not in use but also to keep them charged. That much everyone knows, but what you may not realize is that the case can also act as a makeshift iPhone stand when the need arises, and it does a pretty good job of it, too.
We received this tip from reader Salam Najim who sent some photos that show his iPhone being cradled by the case, and we can’t believe we hadn’t noticed this before. If you want to try this out for yourself, simply lay the AirPods case down, open the lid and stand an iPhone in the gap you just created. Even the most slippery of iPhones, such as the Jet Black iPhone 7, should stay put, removing the need to buy and subsequently carry around an iPhone stand for when watching videos on the move.
This is such a good idea, we think Apple should probably market its AirPods with the stand idea in mind. We suspect plenty of people will make use of it once they know it exists!
Thanks, Salam!
