Yalu iOS 10.2 Jailbreak Source Code Available To Download Now

Luca Todesco has made available to download Yalu iOS 10.2 jailbreak source code to the wider developer, security, and jailbreak community.

Todesco has openly discussed expansion of Yalu’s capabilities to support 64-bit devices running iOS 10.2, but has also often clouded that support by suggesting that iOS 10.2 isn’t officially “on his radar.” With iOS 10.3 beta 1 now out in the hands of developers, and iOS 10.2.1 out to public, Todesco’s incomplete Yalu implementation for iOS 10.2 is now hosted on GitHub and is available to download by just about everyone.

First and foremost, the important word in this release is “incomplete”, which means that this is not a fully functional jailbreak implementation for devices running iOS 10.2. What this means is that Todesco, and any other individuals assisting with the jailbreak, have either taken it as far as they possibly can, or as far as they actually want to, and have then released the source code to the public.

This can be downloaded by someone who has the technical capabilities and understanding to complete the work that’s already been started, or just by someone interested in seeing what a jailbreak looks like under-the-hood and how it’s structured.

It will be extremely interesting to see if someone actually takes up the challenge of doing something impressive with the codebase, or if Luca Todesco and Marco Grassi are actually continuing work on this jailbreak behind the scenes with a view to publicly releasing it sometime in the future.

For jailbreak fans out there with a 64-bit devices running iOS 10.2.1, it could be worthwhile taking the opportunity to downgrade the device to iOS 10.2 from iOS 10.2.1 while Apple continues signing the fimrware. With Apple currently testing iOS 10.3 and 10.2.1 out to public, the Mac-maker could close the iOS 10.2 signing window quicker than we know it. Of course, the romantic view here is that someone, or even Todesco himself, will pick this up and produce something that will allow iOS 10.2 devices to be jailbroken. With that said, there is a real chance that Todesco has either hit a stumbling block, or seen something within iOS 10.3 that really makes him believe the production of this jailbreak is just not feasible or viable anymore. That would likely put this whole 10.2 excitement to bed.
