With iOS 9.3.3 now fully jailbroken via two different methods, there is some confusion surrounding just how long will they be valid for due to nature of the jailbreak.
Both the Chinese (PP) and English (Pangu) versions of iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak require the use of a signed developer certificate from Apple for sideloading, but the length of time that certificate is valid can vary between one week and a year.
It’s here that the confusion begins, with some users unsure which camp they fall into while almost everyone would want to have the 1-year certificate seeing as how the other variant would require renewing after every seven days, as explained in our detailed post here: Re-sign / Renew Pangu Or PP iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak Certificate After 7 Days, Here’s How.
As it turns out, actually figuring out whether your certificate is valid for 7 or 365 days isn’t all that hard so long as you know what you are looking for, like everything else in this world. We know how to go about checking it exactly, and because we’re caring, sharing folks, we’re going to tell you how to do it too. So let’s get started.
Step 1: Install the free iFile app from Cydia.
Step 2: Run iFile and head over to the following folder: /var/MobileDevice/ProvisioningProfiles.
Step 3: Open the certificate file inside the text editor.
Step 4: Look for the following string of text: <key>ExpirationDate</key>. The date here will show when exactly the jailbreak certificate will expire. If it shows 2017 in the date, that means you have the 1-year developer or enterprise (if from Beijing Hong Yuan) certificate. If not, then you have the free developer 7-day one.
If all that sounds like a pain, there’s an alternative that you might want to give it a try. Simply navigate to Settings > General > Device Management. If it shows a certificate similar to the one shown in the screenshot below, you have the 1-year enterprise certificate. Happy days!
