HTC’s Next Phone To Be Called “HTC 10”, Photos And Renders Leaked

HTC may have decided to leave Mobile World Congress in order to give its upcoming flagship device a little room to breathe, but it appears that all it may have done is to give the leaks more chance to, well, leak.

The new leaks, a collection of photos along with a screenshot posted by popular leak source @OnLeaks and a render posted by the equally popular @evleaks over on Twitter, shows that the new smartphone will be called the “HTC 10” and will be taking a different route than HTC’s M series when it comes to design.

The photos show what appears to be a black HTC 10 in all its glory and confirm the validity of the accompanying renders. That means we now have almost 100% confirmation that the device will feature rounded edges to an aluminium frame that includes hardware buttons for the home, back and multitasking functions.

The home button is a physical button while the others are capacitive, but no software buttons will be used in the upcoming flagship smartphone. That home button also doubles as a fingerprint sensor for those that like to keep their stuff nice and secure.

A single speaker at the bottom of the HTC 10 will replace the BoomSound speakers of previous models, which is a shame, and the rear-facing camera appears to have a laser auto-focus feature, although that is as yet unconfirmed – this thing looks like there is laser auto-focus hardware beside the camera’s flash, but you never do know.

With an official announcement of the HTC 10 expected in a month or so, we shouldn’t have to wait too long before we get confirmation one way or another and, let’s be absolutely honest, it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise in the world if some official specifications start to leak out before the big unveiling whenever that may be.
