Halo Back is a new breed of screen protectors that falls in the ‘smart’ category, which is a world’s first. This brilliant little protector adds a back button to your iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus within your thumb’s reach. Details on how it works, can be found right here.
Let’s face it, the Android navigation buttons can be enviable at times for an iPhone fan. For instance, hitting the ‘back’ button in iOS is not entirely convenient with the advent of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and sure you can take the jailbreak route to install navigations tweaks, but that’s not an option for many. Halo Back is designed exactly with that audience in mind where this smart screen protector moves the back button in iOS next to the Touch ID / Home button on the iPhone 6 / 6 Plus.
Halo Back doesn’t exactly move anything, but it is designed with a circuit layer embedded in the traditional glass screen protector design. Whenever a user presses the lower left corner of the protector – when applied to an iPhone – it will trigger the back button by simulating a user touching on the back button at the top left of the screen. Though iOS does incorporate the simplest of swipe gestures to support the back navigation, a back button – be it simulated – right next to the Home button is much quicker and easier, especially if you’ve used an Android device before.
Apart from being smart, Halo Back offers the same level of protection being offered by most glass screen protectors out there, such as glass shatter resistance from drops and scratch resistance as well. Halo Back is still a crowd-funded project for now, and the team has set out to collect $20,000 on Kickstarter, but with 18 days still to go, the project has amassed over $83,000 at the time of writing.
With all early bird offers gone for a single unit, bulk offers are still up for the grabs if you want to dive straight in. Deliveries are expected to begin somewhere in August, while the estimated retail price is being pegged at $49 per unit. While Halo Back will be launched for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the team behind the effort has hinted at a probable release for the iPhone 5s as well in the near future.
