After making some predictions last week regarding the features that are likely to be included in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities is back today with another, albeit less believable, revelation. A research note from the prolific analyst has pointed to his belief that Apple could be about to break its traditional release cycle of its extremely popular smartphone to showcase the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus as early as August, rather than honoring the historical September unveiling that we have become accustomed to.
According to The China Post it’s claimed that both Ming-Chi Kuo and KGI as a company believe that Apple could be ready to introduce the next-generation iPhone almost a month ahead of the predicted schedule. If the unlikely prediction does turn out to have some validity to it, then it means we would be all set to welcome the future of the iPhone for the next twelve months in our lives during the month of September with the possibility of pre-orders beginning as early as the end of August after the speculated media event.
Kuo said that Apple is expected to unveil the next iPhones in August, a month earlier than the market had widely anticipated. The new devices are expected to hit store shelves in September.
Ming-Chi Kuo is a well-known analyst in the consumer technology world. His predictions and research notes often form the basis for information that we see coming out of other well-known research companies. With that said, his success rates fluctuate wildly depending on whether or not the prediction is based on what Apple as a company is actually planning or whether or not it’s related to a launch cycle. It’s wildly accepted that his recent iPhone 6s and 6s Plus feature predictions will turn out to be true, but we don’t think that the August announcement notion will come to fruition.
When the next-gen iPhone does eventually make an appearance it’s almost guaranteed that the 6s version will ship with a 4.7-inch display and the 6s Plus will have a larger 5.5-inch screen. It’s also extremely likely that Apple will introduce Force Touch technology into the iPhone 6s models, something that made its debut on the Apple Watch before slowly making its way to the company’s notebook lineup.
Getting our hands on the next iPhone a month ahead of schedule would be extremely welcome but unfortunately something we just don’t think will happen.
