The ‘Marvel’ brand has really taken off in the last few years, with this year’s movie Avengers: Age of Ultron promising to be stretched to epic proportions when compared to the last one. With the movie hitting cinemas across North America tomorrow, the anticipated RPG game ‘Marvel Future Fight’ for the iPhone, iPad and Android seems to have launched with precision timing.
Developed by Netmarble, a Korean studio, Marvel Future Fight will give Avengers fans access to over 36 officially licensed Marvel characters, which, apart from the inclusion of The Avengers team, also includes the likes of Spider-Man, Daredevil, Loki, Doctor Octopus, Ultron, and even the Guardians of the Galaxy team.
Just to be clear, the game offers no plot similarity to Age of Ultron, and builds up on its own, independent of the Marvel universe. That said, the storyline in this game has been created by Peter David, who is one of the best-selling Marvel comic writers. The genre here is RPG, with fans being able to play a single player campaign, 3 vs. 3 battles while choosing to tap into some non-fighting experience as well which would help build or understand some sort of storyline that may be stringing along.
“Marvel Future Fight also includes a PVP three-on-three Timeline Battle that will see teams of players fighting heroes from other dimensions.” As mentioned earlier, players can unfold more depth to the Marvel universe and the running storyline with some non-action based gaming. “For players looking to take it to the next level, the Villain Siege mode taps on players’ knowledge of the Marvel Universe to uncover evil plots of the most infamous villains, while Dimension Rift Missions will offer a true test of skill for players seeking the ultimate challenge.”
Controls here can be chosen from a choice of two: a virtual gamepad (on-screen controls) or a simple one-finger gesture control which is becoming increasingly prevalent on such action packed games. While the game is free over at the App Store and Play Store, there are elements that require an in-app purchase. One of those in-game items is the Iron Man armor, which can be unlocked free of cost in the game during the first week of its launch.
