Apple Sends Out Invites For March 9th Apple Watch ‘Spring Forward’ Event

Apple has just sent out press invites for an event to be held on March 9th with the tagline “Spring forward.” It is being speculated that the event will focus on the Apple Watch, and hopefully we’ll get to know the pricing and other details.

With Tim Cook having stepped out at last month’s earnings call and confirmed that Apple Watch was on track to begin shipping in April, we knew that Apple wouldn’t be letting the arrival of its Next Big Thing pass without a respectable amount of fanfare. Just when the special media event would take place has hitherto been a matter of speculation, but its has now been confirmed that March 9th will see the Cupertino company hold its keynote event.

Spring forward

Although naturally, the invites that have been sent out don’t give too much away, it’s a safe bet to assume that Apple Watch will be at the forefront of conversation, and having offered the tech world more than a glimpse of its wrist computer back in September, it’s now almost ready for prime time.

The event itself will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, which has been the venue for a number of high-profile launches in the past. Hopefully, Apple will use it as an opportunity to divulge some key details on the product that we’ve still yet to learn.

For example, while the starting price is clear at $349, there will be many different configurations available, ranging all the way up to the higher-end variants comprised of rose gold and the like. On March 9th, Apple could lay out its pricing structure as early adopters consider their options, while also getting down to the nitty-gritty of battery life and other such basics.

CEO Tim Cook noted on a recent trip to Germany that he wears his Apple Watch all day long, taking it off only to charge at night, which suggests that Apple has managed to achieve all-day battery life. The fact that he also wears it while showering implies that it’s built for all kinds of terrain, although waterproofing to the point of submersion still seems out of the question.

Whatever the case, all ambiguity should be quelled come March 9th. We’ll have every facet of the keynote covered right here, and should anything interesting come to light in the meantime, we’ll be sure to keep you guys informed.
