Well, we thought we’d seen everything but it turns out we were very, very wrong.
While not everyone is a fan of putting a case on their iPhone, some of us are either just ham-fisted enough to drop them or have kids that like to throw them. Cases may not be ideal, but they definitely serve a purpose. A purpose which goes a long way when you start to consider its highest benefits.
Cases for iPhones already come in all kinds of weird and not-so-wonderful shapes and sizes, but we’ve never come across one quite so… different as this.
This is the Bandai DeLorean Time Machine case, and it’s both awesome and awful in equal measure. Oh, and it costs $50.
So what do you get for your money? Well, you get protection for an iPhone in the form of what appears to be a rather good likeness of the DeLorean from the famous Back to the Future movies. It doesn’t actually time travel though, so don’t expect to put an iPhone 6 in it and get an iPhone 8 back. It’s just not gonna happen unfortunately. After all, it’s just a case.
As you’d expect though, there are ample flaps and sliding parts that mean you can still get access to the iPhone’s camera, power and volume buttons so you won’t need to be taking it out of the DeLorean every five minutes. We’re not sure we’d call it functional ourselves, but you can at least use the thing.
We’ve saved the best part for last though, because it turns out that the DeLorean case has a party piece. Once an iPhone is inserted, any incoming call will trigger flashing lights just to make sure you don’t miss it.
Now that’s got to be worth $50 of anybody’s money.
If you’re still not sold to the entire idea of having a case that transforms your iPhone 6 into a DeLorean, then you should definitely check out the snazzy ‘trailer’ for the case itself below:
If you’re not sold by that trailer, then we’re guessing you should simply pass up on it.
Thanks, Bret for sending this in!
