If you want to effortlessly transfer files between your iOS device or Mac / PC, then Pocket Drive is the app to have on your iPhone or iPad, as it lets you establish a wireless connection between the two platforms without the conventional caveats.
Pocket Drive, once up and running on your iOS device connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC or Mac, would show up as a network drive. Mac users should be able to see their iPhone or iPad in Finder under the shared device list. You would need to mount it of course and voila, you have your iPhone or iPad listed as an external drive.
Up next, you know the drill. Simply drag files to and from your iOS device and PC or Mac, performing the move or copy functions easily. Since the iOS device is mounted as an external drive, users can even move or copy files to the device using the in-menu context as well by right-clicking on files.
Of course the app supports transfer of any type of file, and also supports opening and viewing up to 25 different types, including – but not limited to – MOV, MP4, MP3, ZIP, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, GIF, and JPEG.
As mentioned earlier, Pocket Drive has no configuration checklist, and there are no IP addresses to connect to. In fact, it is so simple that once you exit the app, your iOS device will drop off from the PC or Mac’s radar as well.
The absolute barebones version of Pocket Drive allows you to use 512MB of storage space, which is really impractical and just a way of showing off the app’s ability. For a one-time in-app purchase of $1.99, users can enjoy up to 4GB of storage space. However, if you wish to go for unlimited space, this version will cost you $4.99.
Give the app a shot, since it’s absolutely free to try. And if you do fall in love with what it has to offer, then you might want to stump up some cash for more storage.
