After all the speculation and reports, a device believed to be the Galaxy S6 has been spotted, boasting its hardware info in the database of the popular AnTuTu benchmarking app.
The screenshot of the app running on this particular device details the model as “SM-G925F“, being powered by the Samsung Exynos 7420 64-bit processor. Earlier there were reports that the device would come with an Exynos 7400, and well, this is close enough. So unless Samsung secretly pushed out a super phone to some lucky customer by mistake, there is good reason to believe this happens to be the benchmark of the Galaxy S6.
Other details found in the benchmark is the speculated 5.5-inch screen that was rumored to grace the device with its Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution. The device is carrying a 5MP front-facing camera but goes with a generous 20MP unit for the rear shooter. We’re not sure at this point if those extra pixels do indeed come with an improved image sensor, but here’s to hoping that Samsung ups its game in the camera department once again.
While we have the 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage space to go with on this purported device, let me introduce you to the Galaxy Note 4, an iteration of which happens to sport a display of similar size and specifications. So would Samsung go with a gadget that pits it up against the phone maker’s own phablet flagship device? Likely not.
Last but not the least, the device will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed, which is a big relief in a lot many ways for users out there.
In light of this glaring fact, we cannot truly ascertain if this device really is the Galaxy S6, a phone which most likely will be around the 5-inch mark. We already know the device is being designed with a metal body akin to the Galaxy Alpha, but unfortunately there’s no further word on it for the time being. And going by the fact how plastic has ultimately backfired for Samsung in the long run, we’re certain that the device will indeed carry a metal design in one form or the other.
Samsung is trying to design the Galaxy S6 from scratch this time, without dwelling into the existing design language of the Galaxy S series of devices, and leaked reports also suggest the coming of a Galaxy S6 Edge variant as well, with a display similar to the likes of the Note 4 Edge.
