Grand Theft Auto 5 wasn’t just the biggest release in the gaming calendar last year, but an entertainment launch of unprecedented proportions, smashing numerous records including many of those consistently claimed by Activision’s Call of Duty franchise. But despite incredible successes in 2013, the story of GTA 5 has not yet reached its conclusion, with an upscaled launch headed to the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 in due course. To give us an idea of just how much better it will look on the next-gen machines compared to those preceding, a new side-by-side clip has been released of the title on PS3 vs. PS4, and as you might imagine, the difference is stark.
Having personally tested out a couple of games on the PS3 and then again on the PS4, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing first-hand just how the improved hardware of the latest and greatest takes gaming and visuals to the next level. But as you will see from this comparison of trailers, as compiled by the folks of DigitalFoundry, those enjoying Grand Theft Auto 5 on the PlayStation 4 will be in for a real treat, and Rockstar Games appears to be making good on its promise that the title “will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4.”
GTA 5 will re-launch this fall on the PlayStation 4, and will also arrive on the Xbox One and PC, and although we were dazzled by the aesthetics the first time around, we’re even more excited to see what’s coming up after this little taster.
Looking ahead, the developers know that many PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers will look to upgrade their version of GTA later this year, and as such, the process of transferring characters and progression will apparently be a streamlined and painless one.
Grand Theft Auto Online, which took quite a while to get up and running after the initial launch of GTA 5, should be ready to rock from the get-go, and with all of the great weaponry and vehicles Rockstar has packed into the gaming industry’s most popular release, we simply can’t wait to enjoy what looks a phenomenal upgrade.
