Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is proving so popular that it’s already outselling the Galaxy S4, according to reports from Korea.
With Samsung’s Galaxy S5 now available to buy for many, much of the talk in reviews has been about how the company’s decision to stick with the tried and tested formula of its existing handsets has left the fifth generation Galaxy S lacking anything to get the pulse racing. That hasn’t stopped people flocking to buy the new handset though, with reports coming out of Korea stating that the Galaxy S5 has seen strong sales in the region.
In fact, the stats would suggest that not only has the Galaxy S5 seen strong adoption, but it has actually been even even more well received than the model that it replaces, the Galaxy S4. According to information coming out of ZDNet Korea, the S5 has outsold the S4 during its first day of sales by over 30%. Some European countries have seen sales even higher, with claims that more devices could have been shifted if it wasn’t for constrained supply. Queues were evident outside stores where the Galaxy S5 was due to go on sale too, which just reiterates the success that Samsung’s new device has garnered.
Many reviewers of the device have said that while it is a strong smartphone, those with last year’s model need not upgrade just yet. It’s unclear whether the general public disagrees or whether these buyers are upgrading from older devices, and at this point the point is rather moot anyway. Sales are sales, and it seems the Galaxy S5 is selling in huge numbers regardless.
Those still not able to buy the Galaxy S5 will hopefully be able to jump on the bandwagon soon, with Samsung bringing the device to a further 25 markets over the coming weeks. Unless supply has improved though, it’s likely that getting hold of one may not be a simple case of walking into your local carrier store and asking for one, though.
