5.5-inch iPhone 6 LCD Display Pictured For The First Time [Photos]

With September drawing ever nearer, the iPhone 6 bandwagon is rolling on nicely. The expected announcement of the next-generation iPhone may be just three months away, but there is still quite a lot of information to be leaked before we know for sure what we will be lining up for. The smart money is on at least one new iPhone being released at that time, with another coming weeks later. The two new phones are expected to feature larger screens than Apple’s past offerings, which makes this particular launch even more interesting than usual.

While we’ve been treated to plenty of leaks and photos of what is claimed to be the new 4.7-inch iPhone 6 of late, the 5.5-inch version has been harder to pin down. The first real photos of the device appeared last week in the form of a dummy model that was purported to be the largest iPhone 6, but we’ve now been treated to some new photos of what appears to be an LCD display that is destined for the iPhone 6.

Leaked by Sonny Dickson (via: 9to5Mac), the photos show a large LCD display with a ruler on top of it. The measurement is a 14-cm diagonal, which works out nicely to just a tad over 5.5-inches. If this is indeed all legit, then it’s a sure sign that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is on the verge of mass manufacturer ready for a release later this year. Hopefully, some time in September.

Right now, there’s little we know for sure other than it looks increasingly likely that there will be two flavors of iPhone 6 at some point. The smaller of the two devices has been the subject of most of the recent leaks, suggesting that it is the model further along the development cycle. It’s this that has led many to suggest a staggered release is on the cards, with the larger of the two new iPhones coming at a later date. We’ve already got our sights set on the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 ourselves though, so that’s just fine and dandy by us!

Apple has historically announced new iPhones in September, so time to start counting down.
