Apple’s updated 10th-gen iPad is reportedly already in production, with a possible September release in the cards. The news comes via a DigiTimes report that suggests “major” design changes are afoot.
According to the report, the device is said to be in production ahead of a release that is expected to happen next month. September is already a busy time for Apple, with new iPhones and Apple Watches expected to be announced.
Rumors already have the new iPad getting a refresh, with 5G support being added for the first time. A Home button is also thought to be part of the setup, with Touch ID built in. Squared-off edges similar to the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini are also expected while an Apple A14 chip will power the machine.
Rumors also suggest that the new iPad will increase its screen size from 10.2 inches to a nee 10.5-inch form factor. The headphone jack is expected to be removed, too.
The report also notes that planned power outages in Sichuan Province, China, could impact iPad production. The outages are expected to run from August 15 through August 20.
If Apple is to announce the new iPad next month, it’s likely to happen alongside the new iPhone 14 lineup which will include new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max hardware if rumors are to be believed.
