Apple hasn’t announced anything, but the company would need to spring the surprise of a lifetime in order to not ship a new iPhone or three this coming September. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo knows that, and he also reckons he knows that the 2019 iPhones will also include two-way wireless charging, too.
In a research note sent to investors, Kuo apparently claims that the new iPhones will include two-way wireless charging similar to a number of Android devices. That would, in theory, allow an iPhone to also charge a pair of AirPods wirelessly, assuming the Wireless Charging Case is also used.

We expect the new 2H19 iPhone models will support two-way wireless charging. Though the iPhone is not the first high-end smartphone to be equipped with two-way wireless charging, this new function could make it more convenient for users to charge the new AirPods and create a better integrated user experience of the iPhone and AirPods.
This exact feature and use case is what has made two-way wireless charging so interesting in a number of Android flagships, including the Samsung Galaxy S10 devices. Apple’s move to include the same technology in its iPhones makes plenty of sense, and is surely only a matter of time. However, Kuo believes that it will happen sooner rather than later, with this year being in the frame.
Alongside the new two-way wireless charging feature, Kuo also believes the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max will see an increase in battery capacity – up by as much as 25% depending on the handset in question.
