2018 iPhone Pre-Order Date Alleged In New Leak By German Carriers

It’s that time of year again, the time when everyone starts reading the tea leaves in an attempt to work out just when Apple will release its new iPhones and, on top of that, when pre-orders of the next big thing will be available.

Apple tends to stick to a relatively similar time schedule for these things, but one thing we do know is that Apple is far from beyond throwing a spanner in the works at some point. That being said, according to information provided by German carriers to Macerkopf, Apple will be making its 2018 iPhones available for pre-order on September 14th.

The report says that German carriers are planning for pre-orders to take place on September 14th, which would suggest that the announcement event will take place on or around September 11th, a date that has been uttered around the internet of late. It also ties in with previous pre-order dates, with the last eight years outlined below:

2010 – Monday, June 7
2011 – Tuesday, October 4
2012 – Wednesday, September 12
2013 – Tuesday, September 10
2014 – Tuesday, September 9
2015 – Wednesday, September 9
2016 – Wednesday, September 7
2017 – Tuesday, September 12

There are, of course, issues with holding an event on September 11th for obvious reasons, so we’d put our money on the 12th being more likely. If the German carriers are accurate with their timings, then a launch on Friday, September 21st looks likely, giving Apple and its partners a week between pre-order and shipping.

This year is expected to be a big one for Apple with three new iPhones launching. Those will include a replacement for the iPhone X as well as an alternative with a larger 6.5-inch display. A cheaper LCD model is also expected to ship with a 6.1-inch display.
