The aftermath of this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference has predominantly been about the software introduced during the event. The developer community has been going wild for iOS 11, watchOS4, and macOS 10.13 High Sierra.
Those platforms will continue to develop over time, but we mustn’t forget the important hardware announcements made during the opening keynote, with both new 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models now available to purchase from Apple retail stores around the world right now.
The introduction of Apple’s 10.5-inch iPad Pro was something which was heavily speculated about before the WWDC opening keynote. Tim Cook and his executive team didn’t disappoint and took things to the next level with the announcement that there would also be an updated 12.9-inch version of the wonderful iOS-powered slate. Those who left WWDC wanting to own one of those devices are now able to pick their preferred model up from a local Apple retail outlet, with Apple also offering in-store pickup services with immediate affect.
Consumers who prefer to shop from the luxury of their own front rooms have been able to pre-order one of the new iPad Pro tablets online immediately after the WWDC event. The first of those initial pre-orders were starting to be fulfilled over the weekend by Apple, with shipping companies estimating a delivery date of June 13, 2017. That means that there will be a large number of extremely happy tablet owners during the course of today as deliveries start happening globally. For those who didn’t take the opportunity to purchase with a pre-order, and who prefer to physically interact with the hardware in-person before buying, it’s now possible to do exactly that through Apple retail.
Both new versions of the iPad Pro come with significantly improved internals. Both devices feature the new ProMotion display technology offering increased refresh rates of up to 120Hz for fluid, butter-like scrolling of content. There’s also the integration of more powerful A10X chips that are capable of outputting 30% more performance over previous models. For those interested in the hardware, the new 10.5-inch versions essentially replaces the old 9.7-inch iPad Pro, with prices starting at $649 with a choice of various color options. The larger 12.9-inch version starts at $799.
